The Douglas County Historical Society afford our members the opportunity to assist with all levels of the day-to-day operation of our museums. This can be as simple as helping at the Front Desk or working with our committees ranging from the construction and design of new exhibits, the preservation of artifacts, to simple building maintenance and repairs. VOLUNTEER WORK PARTY ONCE A MONTH – May thru October
We plan a work party once a month during Spring and Summer Months, we ask that you bring your own gloves, wear a hat and don’t forget the Sun screen. Water is always provided to keep us hydrated and when the work is done we provide a BBQ Lunch.
We do landscaping maintenance at both the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center and Courthouse Museum in Genoa, we also do touch up painting, cleaning and dusting the inside of the museums, cleaning of windows, cleaning of cob webs at both museums front porches, cleaning of outside light fixtures and replacing burnt out light bulbs.

Re-painting the Handicap parking spot decals – APRIL
Clean landscaping at the Courthouse Museum in Genoa – MAY
Repairing and painting the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center Gazebos & Pergola – JUNE
Painting the fencing surrounding the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center – JUNE
Repairing the two front brick entrance posts at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center – TBD
Cleaning of the Memorial Bricks to be replaced on the Flag surround – ON GOING This job requires working with Muriatic Acid so safety glasses, long sleeve shirts & gloves will be required.
The Trustee in charge of Buildings & Grounds is looking for an on call volunteer maintenance person(s) to help with maintenance items that occur at the museums and may need immediate attention. Contact us for details at (775) 782-2555
