DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Carson Valley Quilt Guild\, Saturday\, March 16\nDoors Open 10:00 a.m.\nBed Turnings at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.\nThe Carson Valley Quilt Guild will present an old fashion “Bed Turning” of antique quilts\nat the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.\nBed Turnings are a unique element of American Heritage allowing artisans a creative way to share the provenance and lore behind their quilts. First held in Lincoln\, Nebraska\, in 1991 this program has become the center stone of National Quilting Day.  National Quilting Day is observed annually on the third Saturday of March. \nBed Turnings held at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  In addition\, a demonstration of quilting techniques will run throughout the day.\n

Free Admission\nThe program is inspired by the National Women’s History and the Nevada Women’s History Project. It is designed to collect the stories of Douglas County women who might otherwise be forgotten. The stories and biographies collected become part of the DCHS Van Sickle Research Center’s archives housed at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville and are also filed with the Nevada Women’s History Project in Reno.\n
